West Virginia University’s online graduate certificate in program evaluation meets the needs of professionals looking to gain knowledge and skill in the field of program evaluation.
Professional evaluators work to systematically investigate and help improve the quality and value of programs of all types and sizes, including but not limited to charitable, educational and school-based, government, health-care, human service and recreational programs. Using many different tools and skills across the spectrum of research and evaluation traditions, evaluators gain a deep understanding of a program and communicate information that guides those who fund, design and implement the program in spending their investments wisely. The program consists of four online courses, including a capstone project, and provides students with real world experience in performing evaluation studies under the direction of seasoned evaluation professionals. All courses are available entirely online, to maximize flexibility for working professionals, and can be completed within one calendar year.
Individuals who successfully complete this certificate in program evaluation will have priority admission into our Evaluation and Research master’s degree program if they are interested in further graduate training to support career advancement.
